On September 27 the Eastridge boys soccer team held a very special game to honor a very special man.
They took the field for their game with Olympia wearing purple jerseys in memory of Joe Truljillo an Eastridge teacher who passed away last spring from pancreatic cancer.
The purple was not only intended to call attention to the disease but also because Mr. Trujillo would encourage his students to live a life that was crown-worthy, and purple represents royalty.
The team organized shirt sales, raffles and other fund raisers with all the proceeds going to a scholarship fund established in his name. Their efforts have raised approximately $2,000.
The Lancers definitely played a crown-worthy game, beating Olympia 3-0.
