School Service Project: Be Thankful and Kind

Durand Eastman students collected almost 90 pounds of food to donate to the Irondequoit Community Cupboard.

Each year, the Irondequoit Community Cupboard sends Thanksgiving baskets to over 200 Irondequoit families.  Thank you to all Durand Eastman students, faculty and staff for helping to make the holiday season bountiful for Irondequoit residents.

Project:  Lemonade Stand: Golisano Children's Hospital

Third graders at Durand Eastman School donated $170.00 to Golisano Children's Hospital.  They collected this money as part of an economy project.  Each class researched, developed, and ran a lemonade business.  Students, parents and community members gathered on the back lawn last June and enjoyed a fresh glass of lemonade.  Sally Strong and representatives from Golisano Children's Hospital attended a special assembly in November to receive this generous donation.  The money will go toward helping care for children and families who are at the hospital.

Project: DE Rocks!

DE Rocks with Kindness!  Students at Durand-Eastman School painted rocks to share with our community.  Each rock was uniquely designed by one of our students with a message of hope and good wishes.  The children then deposited their rock at a special spot in the community to brighten someone's day.  Many students have continued making kindness rocks at home with their families.  Be on the lookout for a special rock when you are out and about in the town of Irondequoit!
