Durand Eastman Families:

On behalf of all our staff, I would like to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year!  As a building and a district, we continue to be committed to our students.  Our staff has been working tirelessly over the summer to plan curriculum and enhance the initiatives we believe to be key to teaching and learning.  Our International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program continues to be a focal point, not only in our classrooms, but our culture as well.

Teaching and learning is enriched through best practices in the classroom, as well as through the district’s commitment to innovative educational technology.  We continue to increase our focus on explicit instruction in reading and math, as well as getting our students prepared to take on the challenges of learning in the 21st Century.  One of our goals is to have our students safely use technology and consume on-line information in a way that is purposeful and meaningful.

Yes, we have some pretty amazing resources here in East Irondequoit!  Being new to the building, one conversation resonates with me deeply.  A parent, who is also an employee said to me, “Our students are very fortunate to have access to the resources we have here in East Irondequoit, the most important of those resources are the teachers.” Well put…

If there is anything I can do to help, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 339-1350.
