2016 NYS Superintendent of the Year

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year in the East Irondequoit Central School District!

Flipping through the pages of this calendar and seeing all the events that are in store for the upcoming year can be pretty overwhelming. Ten months might seem like a long time but with so much going on, it goes by very fast. It’s easy to get excited about the upcoming school year when you look back on all the reasons last year was so exciting.
-Ivan Green and Helendale Road have both received authorization as International Baccalaureate World Schools-which means all six of our buildings have earned that designation.
-Our digital conversion initiative continues to be looked at throughout the region as a model program. The district hosted 180 visitors from around the state at a digital symposium which showcased our approach.
-The Middle School has been designated as the only AVID Demonstration School in New York. 1005 of AVID students at Eastridge have been accepted to college over the last two years.
-The Eastridge Wind Ensemble performed at Carnegie Hall in March and for the second straight year the district has been selected a “Best Community for Music Education” by the National Association of Music Merchants.
These are just a few examples of some of the great accomplishments which we are so proud of here in East Irondequoit. We are looking forward to so many more.
There are plenty of ways to keep up to date with what is taking place throughout the district including our website (www.eastiron.org), our Facebook page and Twitter (@eicsd).
We also encourage you to gain access to your child’s Schoology account by contacting their teacher. Schoology is our learning management system and is a great tool to monitor grades, assignments and to communicate with their teachers.
We have so much to celebrate and so much to look forward to. We hope you all have a safe and successful 2016-2017 school year.

Sincerely,

Susan K. Allen
