The Girls Modified Softball team ended the season with a loud roar, from a huge crowd of parents, friends and East Irondequoit MS students, as they beat Churchville Chile MS at home yesterday in the final game of the year.  The girls had a perfect “3 up-3 down” defensive stand in the final inning, with Tayla H., who pitched an impressive complete game, making a diving catch for the final out as the girls won 16-10.  The girls played their best game of the season, putting together everything they have worked on throughout the year.  Imani K., Carley B., Nina A., Grace, and Kam each scored 2 runs, while every other player scored a run and many had some great hits on offense.  Defensively, the whole team played an amazing game.  Grace H. had back to back plays at 2nd base.  Julia F. and Alayna L. both played great behind the plate catching.  And Madison J. and Yamelli D. made some great stops in the outfield to hold runners from advancing. Every player played an important part in this win, which was an outstanding way to end the season. Haley O, who was out with a fractured arm helped lead the team, even though she could not play and coached first base.  Congratulations to Haley, Imani, Tayla, Carley, Olivia, Nina, Julia, Kam, Madison, Alayna, Grace and Yameli. Great win and awesome season.

The Field Hockey Team had a seesaw battle with Brighton yesterday.  Kiki Robinson scored the first goal of the game.  Brighton tied it up 5 minutes later.  Alliyah Bandych put the Lancers ahead 2 seconds before halftime. Brighton caught up midway through the third and then went ahead with less than a minute left in the third.  Brighton got its insurance goal midway through the final quarter. Despite injury and illness and a very different lineup, the Lancers were competitive and fought to the final whistle.

Tennis intramurals will take place this Friday, June 7th, on the tennis courts from 2:30-3:30. tennis balls and racquets will be provided. the late bus is available if needed, to get you home.

Your Lancer Boys lacrosse team, opened their season in style yesterday.  They battled a much larger Brockport team and despite the team’s size difference, scored several “highlight reel” goals.  Ryan L scored the team’s first goal of the season by breaking free of his defender and easily beating the goaltender on a breakaway.  He later followed that up with 2 more goals, that gave him a hat trick for the game.  Shanyn T scored an impressive goal by picking off a clearing pass, breaking in alone and beating the goalie.  The teams defense held strong despite killing several penalties and the midfield lines, demonstrated grit and determination despite having only 1 sub for the entire game.  Ethan Wright was playing his first game as a goalie and showed impressive poise under pressure.

Their next game is tomorrow at 4:30, against Greece Arcadia, here at the Middle School.  Come support your team and see your future Varsity players!

The Field Hockey Team had its first game on the turf at Penfield last Friday.  It was a back-and-forth match, and Bay Trail scored first after an original corner shot near the end of quarter one.  Kiki Robinson scored the first Lancer goal of the season after a Jessie Avilez assist on a corner play in quarter 2.  Another Lancer goal was called back shortly after.  The score remained deadlocked until 4 minutes left when Bay Trail got what ended up being the game winner.  Despite the steady rain and half the number of players as their opponent, the Lady Lancers showed they are gamers and ready to play!  The team travels to Fairport on Thursday.

Attention homeroom teachers. Be sure to give students earning the golden ticket the QR code so they can make their choices.

Students...please make your choices in homeroom.

Congratulations to everyone receiving a golden ticket today. Go Lancers!!
