In August 2020, East Irondequoit teachers, leaders, and community members joined with those from West Irondequoit and the Irondequoit Public Library to host a community read of Stamped: Racism, Anti-Racism and You by Ibrahm X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds. The event, though virtual due to COVID restrictions, was a success, with more than 200 attendees anxious to discuss what they had learned from this insightful book. If you didn't have the chance to participate, we encourage you to borrow it from the Irodequoit Public Library which has several paper and audio books to loan. What should we read next year? If you have ideas, please reach out to Cheryl Dobbertin, Director of Secondary Education, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
