Welcome to East Irondequoit Middle School!

Students who attend EIMS are asked to develop skills that allow them to be inquisitive, knowledgeable, and caring individuals who will help in creating a more accepting and peaceful world.  Our goal is to encourage students to become active, lifelong learners.  Through rigorous standards, our school strives to prepare all students for college and career readiness.  More importantly we strive to help our students show empathy, act appropriately, and show kindness.

We are very proud that EIMS is a demonstration school for AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination.  AVID focuses on preparing students to become college and career ready, making the transition to high school much smoother.  AVID provides teachers training which allows them to provide rigor in the classroom using higher-level thinking activities, and WICOR strategies.   WICOR stands for Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading, all of which are infused in to each of our classrooms.

All students are furnished with an I-Pad, keyboard, and charger to use while they are students at EIMS.  Although each student has access to this type of technology, the teachers also infuse many of the more traditional strategies and activities that are more common in middle school.  We encourage all parents to work with us to ensure the technology is used in the most appropriate manner for learning.

The District Strategic Plan is to improve academics and provide a culture of caring, and here at EIMS that is what we will provide to your children.  As Maya Angelou said, “If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded.”  Thank you for visiting our school's subsite and please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need some assistance.
