Yesterday afternoon the New York State Office of General Services (OGS) notified the East Irondequoit Central School District that all frozen and refrigerated government commodities food products received in September had been temperature compromised and should not be served.
Our school nutrition team immediately followed USDA protocols and discarded the compromised items. The recall included the following items: cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, chicken fajita strips and orange juice.
Prior to us being notified of the recall, a small amount of the mozzarella cheese was used to make pizza and some orange juice was served. There have been no reports of any issues resulting from the consumption of these items.
