Helendale, Laurelton Pardee and Middle School Will be Open 12/1

Dear Lancer Families,

Late this morning Governor Cuomo announced changes to the Micro Cluster Zones that impact our East Irondequoit schools in the 14609 zip code.  It is our understanding that effective tomorrow, schools designated in the “orange or red zones” will no longer be required to test all in-person students and staff before re-opening for in-person instruction. Instead, the new guidance allows us to keep schools open and test 20% of our in-person population every month while in the orange zone and 30% if in the red zone.

This new guidance is welcome news as it will allow us to re-open our schools in the 14609 zip code tomorrow, December 1st.  More information will be forthcoming from your student’s principal as it relates to any additional testing required in the next month.

Over the last two days of mass testing, we administered over 800 tests within our 14609 community resulting in 3 positive tests. If your child tested positive, then please adhere to the guidance from the Monroe County Department of Health.

I appreciate all that our families have done to help us comply with the Governor’s orders.  You are an amazing community and I am grateful for how you have supported our schools.

Regards,

Mary E. Grow
