Eastridge Students Selected for Summer Science Programs Through RIT & MIT

Two Eastridge students have been selected to participate this summer in Project SEED.  This is a summer program for high school students in collaboration with the Rochester Chapter of the American Chemical Society.  Tyshawn Roundtree and Stephen Rosa will be placed in academic, industrial and governmental research labs for eight to ten weeks.  During this time they get to experience first-hand, what it’s like to work with a team doing hands-on research.  Tyshawn will work with Dr. Takacs and Stephen will work with Dr. Miri both at RIT. We are incredibly proud of both Tyshawn and Stephen’s accomplishments!

Additionally, Reem Ibrahim has been selected to participate in the MOSTEC program at MIT for rising high school seniors. This is an online program that lasts six months and includes a 5-day conference on the Boston campus of MIT.  Reem will be one of several students from across the country who will discuss research, receive admissions advice, attend webinars and complete projects that she will present at MIT in August. Reem participated in the SEED program last summer and as a result, became a published scientist at the age of 15!
