ALCOHOL SUPPORTS

It’s important to talk with your kids about substance use from a young age and explore the potential risks that it can create for them. For example, interfering with their functioning at home or in school, in their interpersonal relationships, motivation in school and activities and future goals. One concern that we have with teens is the use and abuse of alcohol and its effect on their developing brains.  Below are some helpful links on this topic. Alcoholics Anonymous and Alanon groups can be helpful for individuals, parents, children and families to cope with the varying emotions surrounding loved ones use of drugs and alcohol. Local meetings can be found via an internet search, and “open” meetings are held for people who are new to the group. Rochester Area Intergroup (rochesteraa.org)
