2025 Board of Education Candidates

In the upcoming District Budget vote and Board of Education election there are four dedicated candidates vying for three available seats. The candidates in ballot position order are Shanie J. Keelean, Kimberly Lasher, Jeffrey Petrie, and Jessica Krupa. To learn more about these candidates, residents are encouraged to read the inside of this newsletter for detailed profiles and insights into their visions for the district. This is a great opportunity to understand their priorities and how they plan to contribute to the continued success of East Irondequoit Central School District.

Additionally, the PTSA is sponsoring a Meet the Candidates Night on May 12 at 6:00 p.m. at the District Offices in Room 102. This event will provide residents with the chance to hear directly from each candidate and ask questions about their platforms and plans. It’s an excellent opportunity for community members learn more about each candidate, ask questions and make informed decisions.

For those unable to attend in person, the Meet the Candidates Night will be recorded and shared on our website after the event, ensuring everyone has access to the valuable information discussed.

Shanie J. Keelean

Shanie J. Keelean

Please share a little about yourself for the benefit of East Irondequoit Residents:
I’m a dedicated public educator with 25+ years of experience as a teacher, principal, and deputy superintendent. I’m passionate about equity, instructional excellence, and helping all students succeed through collaborative, community-driven leadership.

How have you been involved in the schools before?
I’ve led schools, coached teachers, supported students, and collaborated with families. I regularly visit classrooms, lead professional development, and mentor leaders to ensure strong instruction and inclusive practices across all levels.

What experiences have you had that qualify you to serve as a board member?
My leadership roles in curriculum, equity, budgeting, and policy give me a deep understanding of school systems. I’ve supported superintendents and boards in making data-informed decisions that improve outcomes for all students.

What inspires and motivates you to serve the district in this way?
I’m inspired by the potential of every child and the power of public education. I want to give back, support our educators, and help shape a future-focused, equitable school system for our community.

Anything else you would like to share with the voters:
I lead with integrity, listen actively, and believe in transparent, student-centered decision-making. I would be honored to serve East Irondequoit, ensuring our schools thrive. I coach in the Irondequoit Little League and enjoy interacting with families through sport.

Kim Lasher

Kimberly Lasher

Please share a little about yourself for the benefit of East Irondequoit Residents:
I am a lifelong resident of East Irondequoit. I am the Department Manager for Wegmans Customer Care. I have been married for 37 years to my husband Robert, and we have two sons. We are all proud Eastridge graduates. #LancerPride

How have you been involved in the schools before?
I have volunteered in East Irondequoit for 27 years, serving on various PTA/PTSA boards, served on hiring, safety and capital project committees, Sports Boosters and Eastridge Parents for Music. I also have been the Eastridge Football Parent Liaison for 15 years.

What experiences have you had that qualify you to serve as a board member?
I have completed all required board member trainings, attended state and national conferences, and reached Mastery level in NYS School Board training. My experiences have given me extensive knowledge about our educational system and the role of an effective school board member.

What inspires and motivates you to serve the district in this way?
I am passionate about educating children and believe in investing time, care, and energy in their schools. Their educational experiences shape the adults they become and the world we live in. I am honored to help them become successful, caring, and productive citizens.

Anything else you would like to share with the voters:
I encourage the East Irondequoit community to support our school budget and vote for me on May 20th. I promise to advocate, care, listen, and work hard to provide a quality education for our children and support our staff so they can support our students.

Jeffrey Petrie

Jeffrey Petrie

Please share a little about yourself for the benefit of East Irondequoit Residents:
I have lived in the district for 45 years, married my wife Lori and raised 4 children. I have served 20 non-contiguous years on this board. I have been a software engineer for over 50 years including 10 years with my own software company.

How have you been involved in the schools before?
Aside from my service on the board, I started as Vice President of “Eastridge Parents for Music”. I was a software mentor for the Eastridge Robotics team and attended more than my fair share of school open houses over the years.

What experiences have you had that qualify you to serve as a board member?
Quite simply, my longevity on the board and my corporate experience over the years. I also served as both President and Vice President on the Board in the past.

What inspires and motivates you to serve the district in this way?
Although my youngest graduated in 2023, my oldest in 2002, my board role is something I enjoy and am proud of. It is very rewarding working with such a dedicated group of people, overcoming the challenges and celebrating the successes of our district and community.

Anything else you would like to share with the voters:
It has been a great honor for me to serve the district on this board and believe I bring some wisdom and teamwork in this responsibility. Please allow me to continue to serve you by giving me your vote on Tuesday, May 20th.

Jessica Krupa

Jessica Krupa

Please share a little about yourself for the benefit of East Irondequoit Residents:
I am in my 23rd year as an educator in the Rush Henrietta school district and a proud parent to a senior and freshman at Eastridge HS.

How have you been involved in the schools before?
I began volunteering in my children’s classrooms in preschool and continued through their primary and intermediate days at Helendale and Laurelton Pardee. I have served on school site-based teams and been an active member and officer for various PTSA groups in East Irondequoit.

What experiences have you had that qualify you to serve as a board member?
Serving on the school board for six years, I’ve fostered a safe, positive learning environment, offered rigorous programs, and made fiscally sound budget decisions. As an educator and parent of two Eastridge Lancers, I have a good pulse on education and our classrooms.

What inspires and motivates you to serve the district in this way?
I want all students to have the same opportunity to succeed and become their best selves. As a current board member, I have helped students challenge themselves, persevere, and have a voice in their school community. I hope to continue this work.
