East Irondequoit CSD is excited to announce that Kelly Walker was appointed as an assistant principal at East Irondequoit Middle School by the Board of Education on November 14, 2023. Ms. Walker was the Special Education Coordinator at Urban Choice Charter School for the last four years. Before becoming an assistant principal, she also worked as a special education teacher St. Joseph’s Villa, and went on to be promoted to Curriculum Specialist, and Principal before becoming the Director of Education there. She has a bachelor’s degree and an administrative certification from SUNY Brockport, and a master’s degree from Roberts Wesleyan. Walker says her passion for education is best summed up by a quote from Robin Williams, “There is always a lot to learn and there is always great stuff out there to explore. Even mistakes can be wonderful!” She is excited to join EICSD and the middle school team, remarking that “Sometimes the best opportunities come to you when you are not looking for them but need them the most!”. Walker began the year as the interim assistant principal at the middle school and the district was thrilled to offer her a permanent position on the middle school administration team.
